HE

He drove a Cordoba,
And looked kind of spacey.
He didn't own lots of pants.

He ate too much chocolate,
And acted real crazy.

He called his act Song & Dance.

He left us all guessin',
With our heads was he messin'?
Straight answers? Not a chance!

FRIENDLY FRIENDLY WORLD

If the little foreign man
Came around today
Would the people treat him kindly?

Or just spit and turn away.

No, its not a friendly world
Like back in Andy's day
But I know it would get better

If we stop right now and pray.
(note: not necessarily a Christian reference.)

No, its not a friendly world
But I wish that it would be

Just like in that song
Sung by good old An - dy
Kaufman.
Amen.

JB note: Two beautiful poems from a friend from andylives.org. Thanks, Gilda!

ANDY POEM

If Andy was alive today
He'd love you CAKS, you're A-O-K
Of all the sites that we have seen
I'm sure he'd take you as his queen

One loving soul, yet lost inside
But a loving soul was thus applied
He taught us good and taught us bad
One of the best teachers we've ever had

A red rose from the Great Beyond
Will create with you a powerful bond
And after all is said and done
Andy Kaufman, you were the one

Biopic or not, you see
You will go down in history
With a nip nip and a nippety-Nax
I'm sure he loves, fellow CAKS!

JB note: Majestic and heartfelt. Thank you, David.

Andy Kaufman in the Army

Had he lived he would have
Been drafted Into the army
As was Elvis Presley
As are all imitators of Elvis Presley
Sooner or later
Into an army that is not
The U.S. Army
But is an imitation of
The U.S. Army
Created by the government
Specifically to deal with
The dire problem of
Men who imitate Elvis Presley

Given a uniform
His hair would have been cut
And he would have been shipped
Out to Germany
Taught a useful skill
Such as sharp-shooting or
Helicopter repair
Until completing his tour-of-duty
Then he could return to the
United States of America
To be a star of movies
Sing, learn Karate,
Have a "come-back", gain weight,
And long for the days when
It was enough simply to be
Elvis Presley

Flame

Though he annoyed measure by measure
And indulged in every favorite pleasure
He never quite let that flame go
The light that made his eyes sparkle so

Though he stubbornly pursued his art
And worked to conceal his aching heart
He would not lose the thing of greatest worth
The thing which he possessed from arriving on Earth

The flame sometimes shivered in gusts of anger
Sometimes its wick was dampened with tears
It had been much stronger when he began his life
Yet what remained shone through friendly days
and lonesome nights

And then the great darkness encroached
And the little flame risked being snuffed out forever
In thoughts of what was arriving
But instead he held it out with hope and fearlessness

And his Creator had to smile a bit
At the one who kept his flame lit
For though it had dwindled, it had endured
While others let theirs be snuffed out long ago…

So his flame of innocence lit the way
For Andy on his judgment day
