...and since nobody knows who we are,
we can make the world astounding,
with what we make them believe,
we create a "reality" to clairvoyantly deceive.

Roller-Coaster Ride
~For my sweet angel Andy Kaufman~
One day I will go up there, where
you are
and I'll love to join you in a roller-coaster ride.
We will wrestle and eat ice-cream,
we will sing and dance and day-dream.
On cotton-candy clouds we'll walk.
About friendship and loneliness we'll talk.
We will giggle (tee-hee-hee) and fly through the sky,
we will swim in the ocean and we'll count the stars.
All those wonders you will make me see.
That's how Heaven will be for me.

Blue eyes wild
When you see his picture on a screen
blue eyes wild on music beams
you might forget that there are strings
and that magic seems but rarely is,
You might forget what isn't there
while the tempest serenades
and imagine how like stone they sat
catching seconds in the sudden air
Or imagine how he danced them mad
'til all fell into conga line
and how the lonely wrestlers laughed
as late night smoke-filled rooms arrived
But you're sitting on the other side
where the sun comes up and lights the sky
where the world keeps pressing on your dreams
while he's playing in another time
And tales abound as time devours
the thoughts caught in its blurry wind
and facts, these hooks from which you swing
outnumber flowers, bury him
Such a friendly world up on the screen
such a gentle soul behind the scenes
but if it all made sense you couldn't laugh
and if you could touch it all you wouldn't dream.

For A.K.
For a handful of applause
A soul prematurely born
Was acted out bizarrely
With no applause on a stage
To the few who understood
The genius of the gimmick
This true life was far too short
Or, can it even be true?
We live in hope that our loss
Will finally return home
To those who might get the point
And we will laugh together

Andy Kaufman
The measure of fame is not in applause,
or how much one will enjoy it
It is measured by knowing that fame is a farce,
and having the will to destroy it

He came like a comet through the
skies,
He left before we could speak our goodbyes,
And in-between we cast forth our eyes,
To the magic and spirit of Andy.
Both to the woeful and the wise,
He was the bond that forever ties,
The bond between self and disguise,
And,for that,we love you Andy.
He caused us to think and realize,
The boundaries existant in truth and lies,
He give us hope for further tries,
To claim for ourselves the ultimate prize:
The admiration life often denies,
All the world over, long after one dies,
So, it is with pride that my voice decries,
"Godspeed unto you, Andy!"
Some folks, they won't accept your
demise ---
Too many "hows" and "ifs" and "whys",
They insist that,once again,you'll rise,
But,whether or not, it still applies:
When one succeeds where each odd defies,
And, out of each low, creates new highs,
Regardless of name or shape or size,
Therein lies the essence of Andy.
